Review: "Fashion at the Airfield Workshop 2017" with PORTY L 1200
Posted on July 26 2017
This year, the almost legendary workshop by Christian Kuhlmann and the Hensel Porty L 1200 battery system took place at the airfield in Worms, Germany again.
Normally, the workshop's participants are spoiled with beautiful sunny summer weather, but this time the weather presented itself as quite challenging; Thick rain clouds and an atypically cool wind for July demanded maximal flexibility and improvisational talent of the participants and the models.
Despite the dreary weather, conditions like this don’t disturb a photographer with the right equipment! Thanks to the compact size and light weight of the Porty L 1200 and its accessories, every participant could easily look for shelter from the rain – if needed.
The dark clouds formed the perfect, dramatic contrast to the illuminated models and vehicles, and nobody had to worry about sunburns or heat shocks.
The following light modifiers were used to create the distinctive lighting with brilliant contrasts:
- 7“ reflector
- Beauty Dish in silver with 22“ grid
- 14“ reflector with and without grid
- Briese Focus 96 for Porty L 1200
The props were spectacular as well; photo enthusiasts could choose historic planes as well as powerful and elegant cars: A Pontiac GTO, a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, an Abarth Spider 124 and a Dornier 27 offered ideal possibilities to create the matching setting. The models were dressed in current couture by designer Jana Hofmann, who also took care of the styling.
All set up for a more than successful workshop!
